TRAINING FOR NORTH AYRSHIRE ATHLETICS CLUB WILL BE HELD AT ST MATHEWS ACADEMY, SALTCOATS. TRAINING WILL BE ON THE ATHLETICS TRAINING TRACK AT THE CENTRE OFJACK'S PARK PLAYING FEILDS. FOR THE FULL ADDRESS OR DIRECTIONS SIMPLY CLICK THE "WHERE ARE WE?" SECTION ON THE SUB MENU ABOVE.

TRAINING

North Ayrshire AC will hold training sessions at the new running track at St Mathews Academy. This is a brand new 400m track with 8 lanes for the 100m and 6 lanes round the other 300m. There is shelter now to athletes and flood lights for dark nights and an athletics equipment store thanks to North Ayrshire Lesiure. Also the new track and been kitted out with brand new equipment to coach most athletics events, like hurdles, jumps, throws and sprints.

During winter the endurence athletes will prepare for cross country training so training will mostly be ouside the track, either using the grass field, long runs and hill efforts. There may also be sessions held at the Magnum Lesiure Centre in Irvine and Low Green area in Irvine for endurence athletes to train. The relevent coaches are all experienced in this area and all the kids will wear florescent bibs whoch the club will provide. Also during winter there may be additional gym/indoor sessions. Also during Winter the young athletes will be asked to dress approriatly for the weather and training. i.e. wolly hats, extra layers, full sleave training tops and encourage to wear light colours when going long runs.

TRAINING NIGHTS (at KA Campus, St Mathews Academy, Saltcoats) North Ayrshire AC hosts a number of training nights throughtout the week depending on the individual needs of the athletes. The MAIN training nights are as follows: -

Mondays         7pm – 8pm (Running, Jumps & Throws)
Tuesdays        6pm – 7pm   (Endurance based sessions for Endurance and Sprint athletes)
Thursdays       7pm – 8pm (Main training night, Endurance, Sprints, Jumps & Throws)
Sundays         11am - 1pm   (Field Events, Core, Strength and Conditioning)

New* Fridays To Be Confirmed (Circuit Training, Cardiovascular, Core and flexability focused sessions)

EXTRA TRAINING SESSIONS There are also a number of "Extra Training Sessions" available that are event focused and specific. Please contact your coach or senior coaches in regards to extra training.

There will be Ciruit Training, Strength Training, Strength, Core and Plyometrics training. Weight Training, Cardio-Vascular gym sessions, Strength and Conditioning on the track. Long runs, Hills and endurence based sessions. Focused Discuss, Javelon, Shot and Long Jump sessions for anyone interested or looking to improve.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT There will be a Code of Conduct upheld at the club. Please dowload the document below to read and aknowledge these "Rules and Guidlines". It is a condition of membership that you accept these rules.

CLUB WELFARE POLICY All the coaches are qualified to coach children and will have a enhanced Disclosure Scotland Backgorund Check. As well as attended many Scottish child protection courses, Level-2 coaches will be vetted in UK Child Protection and trained with basic 1st Aid qualifications.

The club welfare officer is David McLelland, also a Level-2 UK athletics coach and fully qulified 1st Aider. Thanks to David for putting alot of time and effort in creating the Club Welfare Policy for North Ayrshire AC. This Policy has also been welcomed and fully supported by Scottish Athletics.
