ABOUT US

The aim of this squad is to train hard over winter and be ready for the track and feild for 2011. To get athletes in this squad as fit and strong as possible and to excel there fitness and strength over winter. Therefore training will be different, structured, focused and may be demanding at times. But there's a good balance or different training so will fit in well for anybody thats looking to improve or can regulary attend the sessions. There is currently a sprints and endurance squad. The majority of athletes are welcome to come and try, however there are strict conditions to be met if training with this group, as shown below. The lead coach will be looking for great commitment and dedication from all the individuals in the squad.

Sessions will include Endurance, Speed and Speed Enduance training for both sprinters and endurance groups suited to their needs. Focused core sessions for both groups. Demanding Circuit training sessions. Technique sessions, plyometrics, gym sessions for Sprinters. Strength and Conditioning for both groups.

HOW TO JOIN DEVELOPMENT SQUAD (COACH BILL SIMPSON) To join the Development Squad simply ask Senior Coach Bill Simpson for more information. This squad is open to all ages and abilities! Anyone looking to acheive their potential, wanting to improve or excel there fitness.

Athletes/parents can also contact Alan Petigrew for throws coaching and Imran Ali by email imi_inter007@hotmail.com for Endurance or Sprints. As Alan and Imran train outwith club times and sometimes in different locations and facilities parental consent is required and a high level commitment required from athletes.

CONDITIONS All members of the development group will have strict conditions in place that must be met if training with this squad. Firstly all members must follow the club Rules and Guidlines and a few additional requirements for this squad as follows...

  1. Minimum commitment of 3 – 5 days
  2. Athletes commit to the training programme
  3. Athletes must commit to the lead coach
  4. All sessions are structured and linked to a high attendance required
  5. Athletes must follow coaches decisions and listen to instructions
  6. Strictly no misbehaving or distracting other athletes from training
  7. All sessions are pre planned and structured so no debating exercises

Also if athletes breach these conditions a large number of times and do not follow the Rules and Guidlines of the club, the individual will be asked to leave the squad. This training squad is training with short, middle and long term goals over the next few years
